Mar 09, · One of the better EP's of the mid's. Arguably definitive versions of Bad and A Sort Of Homecoming. Love Comes Tumbling is also a decent B-side with nice dreamy ambiance. So far I have found two very different CD pressings. Both European. Island Records CIDU 22 (mastered by NIMBUS) Track 1 - % Track 2 - % Track 3 - % Track 4.

U2's "Wide Awake In America" is an oft-overlooked gem. The feel of this short album is a dreamy, early morning - as the title hints, an awakening. The first two songs are live cuts from concerts, but they are as clean as any regular album track, with very little of the stadium noise/5().

It contains two live tracks and two outtakes from The Unforgettable Fire, and it carries a list price of only $ But while Under a Blood Red Sky served a slightly deeper purpose – it was the group's first live record, and it capped a stage in U2's evolution as a band – Wide Awake in America is more a curio that will be of interest.

Put together as a follow-up to the phenomenally successful THE UNFORGETTABLE FIRE, the EP WIDE AWAKE IN AMERICA captures two of that album's finest cuts as recorded live. While the studio version of "Bad" displayed U2's trademark whisper-to-a-scream structure, the slow burn is extended even further in the live arena/5(56).

The live version on their album Wide Awake In America helped them gain popularity in the US. U2 performed a minute version of this song at the London Live Aid concert in , which included a trip by Bono into the crowd at Wembley Stadium.
